I found dump on one of our internal file share servers. I wish I could share the dump, but I don't have access to it now.

It's strange that we can't find that particular version anywhere.

Hi Joerg,

thanks a lot for your feedback.

I already read your mentioned thread. But I'm not that scripting guru.

So I'm not able to modify the scripts to build up a new VM.

Does someone have a ready to use Workflow for deploying a VM on a Datastore Cluster?

It might be great if someone can share this workflow.

As far as I know VSM attachment (object) files are stored only in the database.

To retrieve the object you have to read the binary column HDS_IMAGE value (table HD_OBJECT) and save it to a file with name specified in the column HDS_TITLE. Bear in mind that you may get many objects with the same name so it could be helpful to attach REF_NO suffix to a file name.

Unable to use FCoE on Intel X540 cards

Hello.

I have a ESXi host (5.1.0 build 1021289, latest) with intel 82599EB-based cards (3.14.3 ixgbe driver, latest).

The cards are working fine, but... the "Add software FCoE adapter" option is greyed out for me.

Maybe the NIC should be in a separate vSwitch with no portgroups? Or maybe any other suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

"Есть ложь, есть наглая ложь, а есть статистика"

А что вы хотели получить используя Usage (%) Stacked per VM? Вполне возможна ситуация когда какое то количество ваших VM может иметь 100% CPU в сумме будет больше 100 точно

Хотите более понятную картинку возьмите Usage (MHz) Stacked per VM

I've created a baseline only with the HP patches ..

Hi I had wrote that post last december, i wrote how i had restored the situation, but it could happen sometimes not 3 day a week.

this night i have stopped the replication appliance, and 4 of 7 vm gone well.

The other 3?

I have runned this command grep -i error /usr/local/avamarclient/var-proxy*/<BACKJOB-ID>*vmimage?.log  as suggested here http://communities.vmware.com/thread/422824?tstart=0but no indication about the vm no backedup.

1) All the LUNs in the text file

$luns = Get-Content luns.txt
$luns | %
{   $e01.storage.core.device.detached.remove($_) }

This one works fine.

VCP Cloud Certification

Hello Experts,

I am new to VMware and planning to perceive the VCP Cloud Certification, hence wants to get some information with regards to that.

I dont have any VMware Certification currently, Can i directly go for VCP Cloud Certification ?

Does it matter if i am not a VCP4 certified or do i have to be one ?

Is there any traning center in India Bangalore for VCP Cloud ? If any name of registered centers will be helpful ?

Awaiting for the reply.

Thanks

SanketJ

2) The first 5 LUNs

$e01.storage.core.device.detached.list()|
Select-First5|%{   $e01.storage.core.device.detached.remove($_) }
3) The last 5 LUNs

$e01
.storage.core.device.detached.list()|
Select-Last5|%{   $e01.storage.core.device.detached.remove($_) }
4) 5 randomly selected LUNs

$e01.storage.core.device.detached.list()|
Get-Random
-Count5|%{   $e01.storage.core.device.detached.remove($_) }

This passes without any error, but luns are not removed.

Setting the boot order does not work

$

Hi all,

I'm trying to set the boot order of a VM with the help of a perl script. (VSphere 5.0.0) What I would like to achive is, that the VM tries to boot from network first and then from the first harddisk. (So that I can PXE boot it....)

I'm using the same method like mentioned in this community post: http://communities.vmware.com/message/1889377, so I'm actually setting new boot options with a ReconfigureVM task. At the end, the VM configuration looks like this:

'bootOptions' => bless( {

         'bootDelay' => '3000',

         'bootOrder' => [

                     bless( {}, 'VirtualMachineBootOptionsBootableCdromDevice' ),

                     bless( {

                                'deviceKey' => '4000'

                            }, 'VirtualMachineBootOptionsBootableEthernetDevice' ),

                     bless( {

                                'deviceKey' => '2000'

                            }, 'VirtualMachineBootOptionsBootableDiskDevice' )

                     ],

         'bootRetryDelay' => '20000',

         'bootRetryEnabled' => '1',

         'enterBIOSSetup' => '0'

      }, 'VirtualMachineBootOptions' ),

So the boot order seems to be CDROM, network, hard disk, which is what I want it to be.

However, on the BIOS screen, the boot order is different and it also does not boot from network. So instead of “CDROM, Network, Disk” as the supposed config, it is using the displayed boot order in the BIOS, so “CDROM, Disk, Network”.

Does anybody know how to solve this? Is this propably a known bug?

Richard
